Inhalt:
Schilderung der Lebensgeschichte des Komponisten Jerome Kern, der am 11. November 1945 starb. Kerns "Show Boat" (Uraufführung 1927) gilt als das erste echte Musical des amerikanischen Musiktheaters. Trotz des überzeugenden Hauptdarstellers schleppt sich die Handlung zwischen den zahlreichen gelungenen Musiknummern eher mühsam dahin.
