Wolfgang Selje: Goodbye Frank
heißt meine erste Maxi-CD die ich anlässlich des 10. Todestages von Frank Sinatra am 14. Mai 2008 der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt habe. Der Titelsong handelt vom Abschied Sinatras von unserer Welt.
Das Arrangement stammt von Kuno Schmidt, der auch schon im selben Studio von Columbia records aufgenommen hat in dem seinerzeit die Aufnahme von „Very good year“ filmisch aufgezeichnet wurde. Den Text eines unbekannten Autoren hab ich 1999 im Internet gefunden und um eine weitere Strophe erweitert.
Die Melodie dazu hatte ich sehr schnell komponiert. Nun aber jemanden zu finden, der das Ganze arrangiert und angemessen instrumentiert, hat dann doch einige Zeit gedauert. Ich würde mich sehr freuen wenn meine Hommage an Frank möglichst vielen Sinatra Fans zu Ohren kommt und hoffentlich gefällt. Auf der CD sind außer „Goodbye Frank“ noch „When your lover has gone“, “Here´s that rainy day“ und „Send in the clowns“ drauf. Alle mit purer Klavierbegleitung meines langjährigen musikalischen Begleiters Matthias Weiss.
